There is something truly magical about watching an ordinary space transform into a breathtaking showpiece, and this kitchen is no exception. Our latest project centered on the stunning Agata Blue 1.2-thick porcelain, used not only for the countertops but for full-height backsplashes as well. The result? A bold, one-of-a-kind statement that captures the beauty of swirling blues in every direction.

Swirling Agata Blue porcelain takes center stage in this custom kitchen, complete with mitered edges and full-height backsplashes for an unforgettable statement.

Mitered Edges & Meticulous Veining

From the very beginning, we knew we wanted the Agata Blue porcelain to take center stage. To achieve a thicker-looking edge, our fabrication team employed mitered edges, which neatly wrap the porcelain around the corners and give the illusion of a more substantial slab. This technique also hides the seam, resulting in a near-seamless look that keeps all eyes on the dramatic veining.

Perhaps the most striking feature is how the veins appear to flow effortlessly across the countertops and up the walls. This was no easy feat! We carefully lined up the veins across multiple slabs, ensuring that every section of the porcelain would connect in a harmonious pattern. It was a complex puzzle that required precision measurements, keen eyes, and a whole lot of patience. In the end, it was well worth the effort—these dynamic lines now cascade from the island to the backsplash with stunning continuity.

A Team Effort with TSF – The Stone Fabricator

Bringing this vision to life involved an entire village of stone specialists. Our partners at TSF – The Stone Fabricator poured their hearts into every single detail:

  • Sawyers carefully cut the porcelain slabs, paying close attention to the flow of the veins.
  • Router Operators shaped and prepared each edge, ensuring a flawless miter.
  • Polishers gave every surface its luxurious sheen, allowing the blues, grays, and whites to pop in the final product.
  • Programmer heroically pieced together all the CAD files and measurements—even without having a laser templator on-site—making sure each cut was perfect down to the millimeter.

Their dedication and skill truly brought this project to life. Thanks to their hard work, the Agata Blue slabs stand as a testament to the artistry and precision that go into every piece of custom porcelain fabrication.Selecting the Perfect CabinetsWhile the porcelain is undoubtedly the star, the supporting cast of cabinetry can make or break the overall design. We had a wonderful time collaborating with the homeowners to find cabinet doors, finishes, and hardware that would complement the vivid waves of blues and whites in the stone.

  1. Initial Consultation
We started by exploring the homeowner’s style preferences, looking at inspiration photos, and discussing their day-to-day kitchen usage. Because Agata Blue is so visually captivating, we knew the cabinets needed to either match or tastefully contrast without overwhelming the stone.
  2. Material & Color Choices
We proposed a range of possibilities—from sleek, dark matte cabinets that highlight the porcelain’s bright veins, to warmer wood tones that bring a natural balance. Ultimately, the homeowner chose a rich, modern finish that grounds the space and lets the Agata Blue porcelain shine.
  3. Door Style & Hardware
After narrowing down the colors, we moved on to door styles (handleless, shaker, contemporary slab, etc.) and hardware finishes. A modern handle or a subtle pull can drastically influence the kitchen’s overall vibe. In this case, minimal hardware and clean lines were selected to maintain focus on the swirling blues of the porcelain.
  4. Assembly & Installation
Once everything was decided, the cabinets were custom-assembled and carefully installed. Seeing the cabinetry unite with the porcelain for the first time was an unforgettable moment—like completing the last piece of a stunning puzzle.

The kitchen now is like walking into an art gallery. The walls seem alive with movement and color, the carefully mitered edges speak to impeccable craftsmanship, and the cabinets provide the perfect canvas to let Agata Blue’s unique character shine.Beyond beauty, the homeowners now enjoy a durable, easy-to-clean surface that will stand up to everyday life. Most importantly, they have a space that reflects their personality—bold, creative, and unapologetically unique. This project was truly a team effort, and we couldn’t be prouder of the final outcome. Here’s to many more collaborative successes—and many more unforgettable kitchens—in the future!
